FAIRNESS

Fairness is very important to have in the classroom so that each student may feel as though they are just as important as any other child in the classroom. A teacher should be fair with their students because no matter what type of background they come from or how they are raised they will and always deserve a good education as well as any other students. A teacher must also set rules but also follow them so that the students know that students and teachers are on the same page as well and just as equal.

FLEXIBILITY

I think that a great attribute to have to be a good teacher is to be able to adapt and be flexible with the students in the classroom as well as the curriculum. One does not know what type of students that they will have and what types of personalities and attitudes. A good teacher must approach each day as a new one and to be prepared if things may not go as planned. 9 times out of ten just because you plan a day for your class and have a schedule, it will not go as planned and you will need to adjust and still go on with the day without letting the students know that you are not schedule. One must be flexible to adjust to any situation whether it may be a child's outburst to a fire drill as well as weather. This would be a great attribute to a great teacher.

Here is a link as how you can become more flexible and adjust to things and situations in the classroom:

TECHNOLOGY LITERATE

It is important for a teacher to be technology literate. This not only good for the benefit of themselves but it is great for that teacher to be tech literate because they will be able to get more out of their curriculum and students. I say "get more" out of the students and curriculum because a teacher can have access to many ways to manipulate a lesson plan as well as find more information on a lesson that they might be stuck on or need a better way to present it. That teacher can use the technology in the classroom to also help keep them organized so that they are able to run a smooth classroom.

A few links on how to become technology literate as well as some helpful websites:

SENSE OF HUMOR

I believe that an important key to being a successful teacher is to often have a good sense of humor. If you take things too seriously you will not have fun with your job and the children will feed off of you and make your teaching experience horrible. You also cannot take everything personal. You must remember that you are teaching children and you are the responsible Adult in charge. You have the power to control your classroom. If the students for one second don't believe that you are in control or have control of what is going on, they will do their best to run over you. Not literally speaking but, figuratively. They will push your nerves to the edge and really try to test your patience and your classroom rules. Here is a link to a blog that describes individuals thoughts as to why having a good sense of humor will help you in the classroom. SENSE OF HUMOR BLOG. This shows many different points of views and one can grasp their own reasons from these many as to why it is important to have humor in the class.

CLASSROOM RULES

Setting classroom rules form the beginning of your teaching career will help you stay organized and show the children what they need to be conscious of as well as what you expect of them. When you set boundaries it will let the child know that you expect respect in the class as well as attentiveness. Here is a link to a website that will give you a few examples of what common classroom rules should be Classroom Rules Examples. These examples are rules for an elementary classroom. One must keep in mind that the rules will change for each grade that you teach. For example the rules for a kindergarten class will be A LOT different that the rules for a middle school classroom or high school classroom. One must always keep this in mind and adapt to whatever class they are teaching.

ORGANIZATION

My first attitude towards teaching would have to be first and foremost organization. I feel as though once you are organized with your curriculum or procedures, your classroom will be ran efficiently and smoothly. A good way to help keep organized would be to use the GOOGLE Website. This website has an area that you can save all of your documents and create spreadsheets for all of your objectives needed throughout the year. This will help you stay on top of the work you need to keep track of as well as share documents with other teachers that you may be in collaboration with. If there is to be any changes to a certain document, any teacher that you "share" the document with will save the new changes and be saved in your Google account as well. This website will help you run a tight ship in your classroom so that you may focus on the children much more.
